Abstract:
This international project will develop a databank of on-line resources to support postgraduate students in the areas of educational leadership, education policy, and research methods in education. The project will set up a website to host this databank of resources, with contributions from members of an international consortium. The databank will comprise resources such as:
presentations and lectures
interviews with stakeholders in educational leadership, policy making, dissemination, implementation and evaluation
interviews with researchers
video documentaries
simulations and self-contained tasks
The contributions from each partner in the consortium would reflect generic international issues as well as local issues with international relevance, such as social equity, ethical and moral questions, and policy formulation, dissemination, implementation and evaluation. The materials would be designed for use by students on specific Master’s and Doctoral programmes at consortium institutions.

The on-line database of videos has been well received by students and staff at HKIEd and at Khon Kaen University, out sister institution in Thailand. Written comments include:
I think it looks really great! ‧ This is a great resource.
These look excellent, and I like the inclusion of students’ perspective.
This looks amazing! … I’ve checked out some of the videos of others who were interviewed as well - some really useful stuff.
many thanks for this! Finally something really and effectively useful for PhD students!
many thanks to have created this. IED should have much more of this initiative …
I have taken a look on the web and I think it is very useful for many students. Very good job!
I think it’s very useful for my students and also me
Comments for improving the resources were also received, and many were implemented.
Impact:
The outcome exceeded the original plan in terms of volume of output (94 videos rather than the 8 originally planned). Narrowing the focus to the doctoral research process enhanced the coherence of the project.
Self-analysis of the effectiveness of the project in teaching and learning development
The resources make clear that designing and conducting research is often messy and problematic, but the challenges are surmountable. The experience-sharing is a powerful pedagogical tool for reassuring students.
