配合新語文政策，語文教育中心普通話組近年成功發展新普通話課程及相應的專上普通話測試，專上普通話測試旨在測試入校新生的普通話水平，為學生樹立更高階段的語言學習目標。 專上普通話測試結果顯示入學新生的普通話水平逐年提高。學生調查問卷顯示大部分學生平均學習普通話的時間長達九年。因此，本計劃嘗試走出傳統的語音和口語教學的囹圄，探討普通話教學的新取向-從文化及語用的視角學習普通話。 本計劃旨在通過南北文化的多方面的對比，幫助學生瞭解語言背後所蘊含的文化元素。課程供修畢初階和進階普通話，或水平相若的學生修讀。 In response to the New Language Policy, the Putonghua team of Centre for Language in Education has successfully developed new Putonghua enhancement curriculum and corresponding Tertiary Putonghua Test (TPT).
