配合新語文政策，語文教育中心普通話組近年成功發展新普通話課程及相應的專上普通話測試，專上普通話測試旨在測試入校新生的普通話水平，為學生樹立更高階段的語言學習目標。 專上普通話測試結果顯示入學新生的普通話水平逐年提高。學生調查問卷顯示大部分學生平均學習普通話的時間長達九年。因此，本計劃嘗試走出傳統的語音和口語教學的囹圄，探討普通話教學的新取向-從文化及語用的視角學習普通話。 本計劃旨在通過南北文化的多方面的對比，幫助學生瞭解語言背後所蘊含的文化元素。課程供修畢初階和進階普通話，或水平相若的學生修讀。 In response to the New Language Policy, the Putonghua team of Centre for Language in Education has successfully developed new Putonghua enhancement curriculum and corresponding Tertiary Putonghua Test (TPT). 香港教育學院於2012年公布校內的語文政策，對學生離校時要掌握的英語及普通話水平有一定的要求。為使教院的語文教育中心能為學生提供更合適的語文支援(增潤課程及自學課程或網上學習)，以配合新高中(334)的發展，語文教育中心(CLE)普通話組於2010-2012年度獲大學資助委員會撥款贊助，發展有關語言的測試及教材。普通話方面, 中心發展了一套「專上普通話測試（Tertiary Putonghua Test, TPT）」工具、三套相關的普通話教材（初階、進階、高階），以及三套普通話自學教材（進階、高階、教師基準）。2012-2013年度CLE所有修讀普通話增潤課程的學生開始全面使用新教材。 TPT跟國家語委的普通話水平測試(PSC)高度相關(highly correlated), 但測試時間只為6-7分鐘, 為PSC的一半。2012年開始, 教育學院新生入學要接受TPT 測試, 以決定是否可以豁免修讀CLE的普通話增潤課程。 本計劃旨在發展新普通話課程（初階）網上輔助課堂互動教材及自學教材網上版: 聆聽與拼音。並初步建立TPT口語試題庫（3份TPT口語試卷）。
