Abstract:
Video learning materials allow students to have more efficient processing and memory recall of the learning contents that covered. They are appealing to students who are active learners of subject matters, rather than passive receivers of information, especially for contents that are “learner-directed” and demand students to have considerable effort to address (Ormrod & Jones, 2018). Effective learning depends on the process of how learning contents are created and how videos are being produced and developed. This TDG project has enhanced production of online videos for supporting National Security Education, Basic Law Education, Professional Conduct, Life Education, Citizenship Education, Cultural Heritage, AI in Education and other e-learning initiatives of the University through the acquisitions of: (i) licenses for commercial background music and images; (ii) external post-production services; (iii) a new video streaming server; and (iv) external professional production services to work in synergy with Library’s existing Media Production Team. Within the 13-month project period, 80 video learning materials of various duration based on the actual requirements have been produced, with another 16 videos for internal reference. All 80 videos are available at the new video streaming server for online access and usage by EdUHK members and by the general public if appropriate via EdVideo or dedicated websites. Result:
80 online videos for access by EdUHK members and/or the public and 16 videos for internal reference have been produced under this project to support different initiatives of the University. A new video streaming server is also in place to host deliverables of this project and future initiatives, which will better support usage of online videos developed for this and other projects/programmes.
